Walk the Plank! (to Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point)

By Rachel Ratliff

The time has come for us to discuss that infamous walk from the Disney Cruise ship to the tram pick-up station at Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Let me start out by saying if you are the type of person or family that likes to get off the ship and walk around the ports even if you don’t book any excursions, this longer-than-castaway walk will not phase you in the least. However, if you are someone with mobility issues or traveling with small children, you definitely want to read the rest of this blog. So most of the videos out there about Disney’s lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point specifically highlight how long the bridge is and many people have probably avoided booking an itinerary to this port of call solely based on the information that has been put out there.

But never fear! Disney Magic is everywhere: if you have small children, you can obtain a stroller or little red pull along wagons on the ship. If you have mobility issues, there are multiple golf cart type shuttles that run back-and-forth from the ship to the tram pick up station. I personally saw many of these transporting individuals with mobility issues, AND what appeared to be their travel party, back-and-forth between the cruise ship and the tram pick up station. You do need to see guest services onboard to arrange this.

My family personally enjoyed Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point more than Castaway Cay but we are an active family. We thought the island was beautiful and the water is absolutely stunning. As you can see from the photos, the walk, ride, stroll, etc. is definitely worth the stunning views, delicious food, and wonderful activities.
