Disney often promotes a split vacation which allows guests to experience a Disney cruise and time at the World Disney World parks. This is an incredible way to experience Disney, but there is another split vacation that Disney doesn’t promote. The split vacation that my family just enjoyed was at Disney Vero Beach Resort and WDW parks. Disney Vero Beach Resort is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean on Florida’s Treasure Coast. The resort was one of the most relaxing places my family has visited. The resort was decorated for Christmas and the smell of pine in the lobby was sensational. The lobby is considered The Inn. There are hotel rooms at inn as well as 2 restaurants. One is overlooking the ocean. The other villas, and studios are scattered throughout the resort but all are conveniently located close to the inn, pool, and recreation areas. There are standard studios, 1 and 2 bedroom villas with a fully equipped kitchen and there are also a few 3 bedroom oceanfront grand villas. The 3 bedroom villas look like little houses right on the water.
The resort has activities all throughout the day to entertain children of all ages as well as fun for adults. There is a mini golf course right in the pool area. This recreation is free for DVC members and $5.00 a day for non- DVC guests. The water slide was the high light of my children’s week. It is a big enough to enjoy it over and over again. They also have water slide races almost daily. The recreation staff at the resort offers poolside games, trivia, crafts, etc through out the day. We participated in a family geo cashing challenge, crafts, pin trading, corn hole, scavenge hunts, star gazing, and campfire sing- a-longs. We also relaxed on beach! The beach is very quiet and private. Another nice feature was that the kids could be participating in a poolside children’s game and the adults could lounge next to them and relax!
The resort has a small lake across the street which includes a recreation park. Guest access this area through an underground tunnel that is painted with Peter Pan characters and has the Peter Pan music piping in. The park offers tennis, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and hiking trails. There are tennis rackets, bocce ball, crochet equipment, and sport balls to rent for free. They also offer bike rental, fishing lessons, and surfing lessons for a small fee.
The restaurants on site gave us a lot of variety of light appetizers, sandwiches, seafood and steaks. If you stay in a villa with a kitchen, it will save you money, and travel time driving off property for other restaurant choices since you would have be able to cook some of your own meals.
