If you’ve been following my recent adventures, you know I just got back from an incredible scouting trip in Mexico. While many resorts in the Riviera Maya struggle with seagrass or rocky entries, the Costa Mujeres stretch felt like a dream. I spent my mornings walking the shoreline, and I can tell you, the sand is that soft, “flour-like” texture that doesn’t get too hot on your feet. The Pool Scene and Outdoor Vibes: Kantenah Strikes Back

While Costa Mujeres wins on the sand, Grand Palladium Kantenah (located in the heart of the Riviera Maya) really shines when it comes to the “resort grounds” experience.

If you like a resort that feels lush, tropical, and full of life, Kantenah is it. The pools here are, in my opinion, much better designed for variety. Whether you want a quiet corner to read or a lively spot with music and activities, the pool layouts at Kantenah feel more integrated into the tropical landscape.

And for my active travelers? Kantenah wins the Outdoor Sports category. From tennis courts, pickleball courts, 2 basketball courts, 2 soccer courts,  to archery and various water sports, there is a sense of “adventure” baked into the property. It feels like a classic, sprawling tropical estate where there is always something happening around the next palm tree.

The Foodie Report: Sushi Bars and Gourmet Delights

We have to talk about the food because, let’s be honest, that’s 50% of the reason we go all-inclusive, right?

At Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres, the absolute highlight was the rotating sushi bar. I’m not kidding when I say I could have sat there all day. It’s modern, it’s fun, and the quality was top-notch. It adds a level of “cool factor” that you don’t find at every resort. If you’re a fan of fresh rolls and a chic, contemporary dining atmosphere, you’ll love the culinary vibe here.

However, if we are looking at the overall dining experience, Grand Palladium Kantenah took the lead for me. Across the board: from the buffets to the specialty a la carte restaurants: the flavors felt more consistent and the variety was impressive. There’s a seasoned “soul” to the kitchens at Kantenah that really comes through in the food.

The Suite Life: Why the Kantenah Swim-Out is a Game Changer

I’ve stayed in a lot of rooms in my career, but the Swim-Out Beachfront Suite at Kantenah is something truly special.

Imagine waking up, sliding open your glass door, and stepping directly into a crystal-clear pool that overlooks the ocean. It’s the ultimate “best of both worlds.” But what really blew me away wasn’t just the room: it was the service.

At many resorts, once you’re in your swim-out pool, you’re on your own. Not at Kantenah. The servers were absolutely incredible. They would literally come by and serve us drinks from the bar right there in our swim-out pool. We didn’t even have to dry off to get another round of margaritas! That level of personalized, attentive service is exactly what turns a good vacation into a “we are never leaving” vacation.
