We celebrated the spirit of the Iditarod by trying dog sledding ourselves. For fans of sled dog racing, Alaska in winter is synonymous with the legendary Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Spanning over 1,000 miles of rugged terrain, this grueling race commemorates the historic 1925 serum run to Nome, which delivered diphtheria antitoxin by dog sled relay to combat an outbreak.
