Straight Away Travel’s inaugural Pickleball in Paradise in Jamaica was in the fall of 2021. We are so excited to be growing this incredible trip and extend our location to Beaches Turks and Caicos on one of the world’s most stunning beaches, Grace Bay.
Each day, you will have time on the courts to improve your game with clinics lead by MaryHelen Atkins and Bob Higginbottom, while also enjoying the 5-star resort and the all-inclusive amenities Beaches has to offer. Meet your Instructors
Your Pro instructors for this trip are Bob Higginbottom and Maryhelen Atkins. Bob Higginbottom is an IPTPA certified instructor, level 2, as well as a certified rating specialist. Bob has been playing for 15 years, achieving a 4.5 rating. He has numerous medals across the years at the local, regional and national level. Bob has been teaching pickleball for over 11 years, including the past 7 years at the Beech Mountain Club, a private country club in the NC mountains.
Maryhelen Atkins is an IPTPA certified instructor and director of the NC IPTPA training facility. She is qualified to train and certify instructors on how to uphold the strict IPTPA standards of pickleball instruction so I don’t think you will find anyone more qualified to lead our clinics! Additionally, Maryhelen is consistently in the top 10 on both tours in the Senior Womens Doubles rankings. Some recent notable wins in 2021 include Silver in Sr Pro WD at The Hyundai Masters PPA; Silver in Sr Pro WD at the PPA Orlando Cup; Gold in SR Pro WD at the Rocky Mountain Championships; Gold in Sr Pro WD at the Delray Beach Open; Bronze in Sr Pro MXD at the PPA Florida Grand Slam. Closer to home, some of you may remember meeting Maryhelen at our BMC Pro Exhibitions. She has attended (and won!) the exhibition and cookout every year we have held it
